Grave markers damaged in DUI crash at city cemetery

Nov. 9—A Crab Orchard space man was arrested Saturday morning after Crossville Police discovered the motorist in his car within the Crossville Metropolis Cemetery within the space of a number of broken grave markers.

Scotty Andrew Godsey, 53, Hwy. 70 E., is charged with possession of heroin with intent, driving below the affect, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license. Heroin seized weighed roughly .51 grams, in line with MPtl. Samantha Seay’s report.

Police responded to town cemetery round 11:49 a.m. Saturday to discover a 2013 Ford Escape that had traveled via the cemetery, “working over a number of headstones.”

Godsey, who declined medical consideration, instructed police he “pulled over on the cemetery as a result of he was about to go to sleep.”

After being given a number of subject sobriety checks on the scene, Godsey was taken into custody and jailed on the fees. Godsey was positioned below $15,000 bond and can seem in Basic Classes Court docket at a later date.
